Scouting came to Seattle in 1910, six months after it began in America. The Chief Seattle Council proudly serves over 9,000 boys and girls throughout the Puget Sound region with the time-tested leadership training program of Scouting. Chief Seattle Council enthusiastically meets new challenges head-on and continue to offer quality programming and services to the communities we serve.
We meet at St. Joseph School in the East Capital Hill area of Seattle
Cub Scouts can join at any time during elementary school. The pack is usually divided into “Dens” based on grade level, each with an affiliated rank (see below). Each Den is led by two or more adult Den Leaders.
Cub Scouts work to earn their rank badge during the course of the year by completing various required and elective “adventures” selected from an age-appropriate curriculum. See Below
Throughout the school year, each Den holds 1-2 meetings monthly, alongside the monthly Pack gathering. These meetings aim to provide Scouts with opportunities to achieve their rank advancements during the year. While attending meetings and activities is optional, Scouts who miss them may need to complete certain tasks on their own if they want to earn their rank badge by the year’s end. Although earning this badge isn’t a requirement for continuing in Scouting, it remains a common goal for most Scouts. Participating in outings and campouts also offers extra chances to advance, but again, attendance is not compulsory.
Cub Scouting provides a fun and enriching experience for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade, offering opportunities for character development, leadership skills, and a sense of community. It emphasizes learning through hands-on activities, encouraging youth to achieve personal goals and gain practical life skills.
